   If I sell a used car, Ford doesn’t have to deliver it to my customer. This is the precedent as I understand it.

   If I sell a used car, Ford gets nothing.  If I sell my lawnmowe,r Briggs and Stratton gets nothing.  If I sell my DVD copy of Lost Boys, Cory gets nothing. This is the precedent we have set, and software is nothing special

      Illogical argument there, the company may not benefit from the sale itself but Ford dealers then make money from servicing, from parts sales, there are halo benefits too and goodwill can also be accrued. Same for lawnmower parts. someone watching Lost Boys may be enthralled enough to rent or buy LB2, or other items with those actors, director or producers.
