As fans of videogames, we love nothing more than to sit back after a long day of working or studying to play that game we’ve been hooked on, escaping reality to forget our troubles and woes. Unfortunately the world isn’t as kind to others, many children across the world spend their lives in hospitals because of disease and illness. They don’t know the enjoyment we know.
The Extra Life charity effort has been set up by SarcasticGamer.com to help raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network hospitals around the world, money which goes towards supplying childrens wards with videogames and consoles to help brighten their day. People sign up, ask for donations from friends and family and attempt to play videogames for 24 hours which, I’m sure many of you will know, is no easy feat. Since its creation in 2008, Extra Life has raised over $500,000, all 100% of which went to the CMN thanks to the thousands of donations along with the efforts of websites and gamers.
Why are we talking about this? Well we at Lo-Ping want to help make a difference too and have signed up to take part in the charity ourselves. We’ve set up our own page on Extra Life and are asking for donations of all sizes and to prove we’re doing you guys proud, we’ll be setting up our own live stream of the event so that you can watch us play on October 15th, 2011. We need your help to make this a success, you can help by either:
- Making a donation
- Joining our team and asking for donations yourself
We absolutely appreciate all and any donations but we’d love to have more people on our team too. You are in charge of which Children’s Miracle Network Hospital the donations go to if you choose to join our team, meaning you can give to help the children in your country or state.
If you would like to become part of our team, please send an email to [email protected]
Thank you very much for reading and we hope you can find a way to support out this great cause. Look below for more information and we’ll post the URL to our live stream as soon as it’s set up.
